Kyle Schwarber hit a home run today.

For a guy who went on a homer spree in the postseason, that’s a completely unremarkable statement. But it’s notable because it was actually his first homer of the spring, something you wouldn’t necessarily expect with only one more official Cactus League game left on the slate.

It was also notable because it came off of A’s ace Sonny Gray, and it came leading off the game. That’s right – Schwarber is the Cubs’ leadoff hitter today, and he led off with this:

That’s power on power right there, and Schwarber’s strength wins out. He’s got tons of it to that spot there – opposite field, just left of center – and he’ll do that a few more times before the year is up.

Heck, he might do it a few more times before the spring is up.
