Today’s the Cubs final Cactus League game of the year, can you believe it? There is real Cubs baseball, just around the corner.
I’m crawling out of my skin.
Over the past three days, the Cubs have encountered one of every outcome: a loss, a tie and a win. Today, they will look to keep the winning ways going, as the Cubs take on the Colorado Rockies (split squad) at Sloan Park.
Jon Lester is taking the mound for the Cubs, with David Ross behind the plate, as usual. Lester has had a very solid Spring so far, keeping a 3.00 ERA with nine strikeouts in his twelve innings pitched.
Both of Tommy La Stella (second base) and Matt Szczur (center field) are in there, today, after just finding out yesterday that they will both make the big league team out of Spring Training. The latter was out of options, so his making the team, will keep him on the Cubs for at least a little bit longer. However, Javier Baez won’t be out for long, so decisions will still have to be made.
Today’s game will not be televised anywhere, but you can listen to the game on MLB.com or through the AtBat app. For future reference, you can check which games will be televised here.
