Pre-Gamin’: Cubs v. Diamondbacks (7:10 CT) – Lineup, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

chase fieldThe Cubs will try to rebound after an exceedingly tough Friday, which saw them find out that Kyle Schwarber has been lost for the year, and then, far less importantly but still frustratingly, lose to the Diamondbacks after losing the lead late.

The rebound will be tough, though, because the Cubs have to take on Zack Greinke. Despite a rough go in his first outing against the Rockies, I have little doubt that he’ll be at his best tonight after working out the kinks from his last go. Greinke does everything well, so there’s not really an “approach” to taking him down – you just have to make sure and capitalize on what few opportunities you’re able to put together. The Cubs couldn’t do that last night. Hopefully they’ll turn that around tonight.

And also hopefully Kyle Hendricks will continue his Spring domination on into the regular season. Hendricks’ command and changeup were fantastic in the Spring, which doesn’t always mean good things for the regular season, but it can’t be bad. Hendricks was quietly very good for the Cubs last year, especially the first two times through the order. The Cubs’ bullpen remains very well-rested, so even if Hendricks is only good for five or six solid innings tonight, you’d probably take that. Of course, if he can do more, well, then that’s just gravy.
