Cubs Lineup: Kris Bryant is Back

Chicago Cubs News

happy cubs old logoThe Cubs will close down their rain-shortened series against the Braves today at Wrigley Field, and the lineup once again has a familiar face back in action:

  1. Dexter Fowler, CF
  2. Jason Heyward, RF
  3. Kris Bryant, LF
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  6. Tommy La Stella, 3B
  7. Addison Russell, SS
  8. Tim Federowicz, C
  9. John Lackey, P

Kris Bryant’s ankle is clearly feeling good, because he’ll be out there running around in left field even after a rainy day on Saturday. Good to see.

Tommy La Stella picks up the start at third base, as he – like Javy Baez and maybe even Matt Szczur – is making it hard not to give him more and more starts.

Tim Federowicz makes his Cubs debut behind the plate, catching yesterday’s would-be starter John Lackey. Although it would be nice to see him do some damage with the bat, he’s mostly here for his glove. Still, the minor league numbers suggest there’s theoretical offensive potential there, especially given that he’s only just 28.
