Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 6, Pirates 2 – May 4, 2016

Enhanced Box Scores

That’s a sweep!

And a prolific sweep at that!

The Cubs got huge days from Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez, and a huge three-run homer from Ben Zobrist to put up another ho-hum six runs.

Jon Lester was probably not at his best today, but he managed to wriggle out of every jam (with some help from David Ross, and also from a sticky glove). Adam Warren finally gave up some runs, but it was a no-harm, no-foul situation, as Pedro Strop and Hector Rondon followed up by allowing nothing. Poor Hector Rondon – he’s never going to record another save, is he?

But that’d be OK by the Cubs, and probably OK by him, too, if it meant that the Cubs were winning every single game by 4+ runs, and he was still getting a chance to dominate in the 9th.
