They just won’t quit.
It was a back and forth game today, with each team holding a couple leads, but a bases loaded Addison Russell double that clipped the line after hitting Bryce Harper’s glove scored the decisive runs in the 7th inning.
An erratic zone and some timely two-out hits from the Nationals gave them a lead in the middle innings (I’m not so sure Jason Hammel was as bad as his four walks in five innings suggests), but the Cubs’ bats didn’t stop and the bullpen stepped up with a great effort. I was driving for the entirety of the game today, so I was only able to listen to chunks, but I sure did like what I was hearing. As usual.
