Who’s ready for some #WeirdBaseball?

The Chicago Cubs are swinging by the West Coast to play the Giants tonight, which means game time isn’t until 9:15 CT.

It’s also a Friday night game and a Jake Arrieta start; so remember, if the Cubs manage to lose this one in horrifying fashion, #Don’tDrinkandTweet.

Jake Arrieta is indeed taking the mound after a brilliant start in Pittsburgh and a strong start to the season. He’s got 55 strikeouts on the year through his first 56 innings, and, despite some command issues early on, he’s mostly looked like his usual dominant self. He’ll throw to Miguel Montero tonight, who himself had a good game at the plate last time out (2-4, BB, RBI).

Opposing Jake Arrieta is other Jake (Peavy) …. And I immediately have a sad, because I’m reminded of the time Jake Peavy yelled at then Cubs rookie Kyle Schwarber and Schwarber handled himself like a boss. But 2017 will be the year of Schwarber. I believe it.

The Cubs could use a win tonight after a disappointing series in Milwaukee. Let’s see if the bats wake up against a struggling Peavy.
