busch stadiumThe Cubs have a chance to do some real redeeming tonight in St. Louis (what a ridiculous thing to say about a team that is 16 games above .500 in May with the best record in baseball).

The game kicks off at 7:15 and I’m pretty excited for the Cubs to hop right back on the proverbial horse with a series win against the Cardinals.

Tonight, they’ll face a familiar foe in Adam Wainwright, who’s had a really tough start to the season, but was at his best the last time out. Hopefully, they can take advantage of his general down swing and unusually low strikeout rate in 2016 (13.5%).

The last time these two teams met was also in St. Louis, when the Cubs took 2 out of 3 from the red birds. The man who kicked things off last time also happened to be tonight’s starting pitcher, John Lackey. Lackey threw seven shutout innings against the Cardinals with eleven strikeouts to just one walk. It was really his best start of the season (to that point), and a start that saw him induce 22(!) swings and misses. I’m not sure this really means anything, but Lackey does have a career 1.94 ERA in 162.1 innings pitched at Busch Stadium. Hopefully, he can keep that going tonight.
