Cubs Lineups

So the Cubs dropped the first game of the four game set against the Mets in fairly frustrating fashion, but they’ll have a chance to redeem themselves tonight with Jason Hammel on the bump.

Here’s the lineup that’ll try.

Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. New York Mets (Jacob deGrom)

  1. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  2. Jason Heyward, RF
  3. Kris Bryant, LF
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Willson Contreras, C
  6. Javy Baez, 3B
  7. Addison Russell, SS
  8. Jason Hammel, P
  9. Albert Almora Jr., CF

After a couple of missed starts with a sore side (conveniently against a couple of lefties), Jason Heyward is back in the lineup against the Mets and Jacob deGrom. deGrom has been a bit tougher on righties, so hopefully Heyward makes the most of his return to the lineup.

With that in mind, however, Willson Contreras now grabs his third consecutive start behind the plate. Given that he started there the past two days AND deGrom has been tougher on righties, it’s not insignificant that Miguel Montero isn’t back there. Although, with Jake Arrieta on the mound tomorrow and Jon Lester following on Sunday, we won’t likely see Contreras behind the plate for a few days.
