make a wish arturoYou folks are incredible!

Almost immediately after an extremely generous BN’er offered to match your donations up to $1,000, you greeted his offer with generosity of your own.

We’ve rocketed up to over $13,000 given to Make-A-Wish in support of their mission to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. That alone makes it all worthwhile.

But you’re getting a little something out of the deal, too, because I promised to blog for a number of consecutive hours at the Trade Deadline on July 31 and August 1, depending on how much we raise.

With over $13,000 raised so far, that means you’ve got me at the Trade Deadline for 37 straight hours of crazy rumor and trade coverage. But you can still earn two more hours of joy if we can get up to $15,000 by July 30.*

As a special bonus this year, it looks like I’ll be doing the Blogathon from Chicago, right near Wrigley Field! I’m still working on the details, but that should mean some extra fun (including a game right in the middle). If you’ve got any ideas how I can spruce up the action by virtue of being right there at Wrigley, please offer suggestions in the comments.

But let’s not lose sight of why we do this. Yes, we all love trades and rumors and Brett doing whacky stuff, but this is why:

Here’s how you donate:

Go to the BN Blogathon fundraiser page, and make your donation there by clicking on the “Donate to This Fundraiser” button.

Make-A-Wish is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, so, to the extent you were wondering, financial contributions may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. Just throwing that out there.

Thank you for your attention, your support, and for telling your friends and family about this fundraiser.

*(And, yes, if we go over $15,000, I’ll do something whacky during the Blogathon, as in years past. Still looking for the right idea to pop up on that front, though. Of course, it’s all academic if we don’t get up over that $15,000 mark!)
