The Cubs are still looking for their first win in this series (or did they just get swept?), and they’ll face young righty Anthony Ranaudo tonight.
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. White Sox (Anthony Ranaudo):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, LF
- Miguel Montero, C
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Jason Hammel, P
Willson Contreras gets a second straight night off, which is not necessarily concerning, because (1) that’s something Joe Maddon likes to do, and Contreras has played a lot, and (2) the Cubs are back in an NL park tonight, which means no extra batter.
Miguel Montero instead starts behind the plate, and he also moves way up in the order, bumping Jason Heyward down a spot.
Ranaudo doesn’t have a strong split (or much of a big league track record), and he’s pretty much been beaten up equally by righties and lefties so far in his career. Maybe that’s what this lineup needs to break back out.
Or maybe you’re in for another frustrating night.
We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
