Cubs Place Tommy La Stella on Temporarily Inactive List

Chicago Cubs News

I’m sure we’ll get into this much more tomorrow, but after Joe Maddon’s discussion of the Tommy La Stella situation earlier today on the radio, GM Jed Hoyer met with the media and revealed that La Stella has been placed on the temporarily inactive list (Bruce Miles). Essentially, the list allows La Stella to be away from the Iowa Cubs and not count against their roster (though he does stay on the big league 40-man roster).

Hoyer told reporters that La Stella is healthy, and there is no family situation, but it’s “somewhat deeper than a level of frustration” (Sam Panayotovich). The mystery remains fairly mysterious.

As I said, we’ll get into this more later. That’s all I’ve got for right now, because there may be some additional, complicated aspects to this about which I don’t think it’s a good idea to shoot from the hip.
