The Cubs swept yesterday’s doubleheader against the Brewers, and tonight they’ll look to take game three of the four-game set.
Chicago Cubs Lineup vs. Milwaukee Brewers (Jimmy Nelson):
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jorge Soler, LF
- Jason Heyward, RF
- David Ross, C
- Jon Lester, P
With Jon Lester on the mound, David Ross is behind the plate. That means, if Willson Contreras were to be in the lineup, he’d be out in left field … but then Jorge Soler would be sitting. And since Soler is not sitting – he’s playing in left – Ben Zobrist has to play second and Kris Bryant has to play third (since neither of them are sitting), which means Javy Baez is sitting.
This is the string of thoughts that have to go into making out the lineup every night for Joe Maddon.
Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson has been fairly split-neutral this year, so it’s a fine time to keep Soler going – he’s been raking since his return from the DL.
You can expect a full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time.
