While last night’s annoying loss to the woeful Brewers was of the “LOL whatever” variety, tonight’s annoying loss to the woeful Brewers was of the “aw, come on, guys” variety.

The Cubs left the bases loaded with one out in the first inning, and then didn’t really get much in the way of scoring opportunities after that. A solo homer by Anthony Rizzo was it. He tried to do it again in the 9th inning, but Keon Broxton went over the wall in center field to rob it. Good for him.

Matt Garza wiggled out of what relatively little trouble he got into, and otherwise just didn’t give up much. He, uh, doesn’t do that very much these days. Good for him, too?

As for the Cubs’ pitchers, they were mostly solid, with Mike Montgomery going five strong, allowing only a solo homer. The bullpen was solid, too, overall, also allowing only a solo homer.

In the end …
