Chicago Cubs Lineup: Expanded Roster Fun with “The Other Guys”

Cubs Lineups

Clinching day is a great day, isn’t it?

The Cubs may have already clinched the division, but there’s still baseball to be played and these are the guys that’ll do it.

Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Milwaukee Brewers (Chase Anderson)

  1. Matt Szczur, RF
  2. Javy Baez, SS
  3. Jorge Soler, LF
  4. Willson Contreras, C
  5. Chris Coghlan, 1B
  6. Albert Almora Jr, CF
  7. Tommy La Stella, 3B
  8. Munenori Kawasaki, 2B
  9. John Lackey, P

Well, that is certainly some lineup you got there, Mr. Maddon.

Indeed, the day after clinching the NL Central, the Cubs will give just about all of their regulars a rest. The only actual regular in the lineup (other than John Lackey) is Willson Contreras, but even he shares time with two other catchers. Expanded rosters are fun!

There’s no logical place to begin discussing the lineup or defensive positioning, but I will say I’m most excited for 1) a Munenori Kawasaki start, 2) some more Jorge Soler at bats (did you see that homer yesterday?) and 3) Albert Almora Jr. in center field! What do you like most about this afternoon’s lineup?

We’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
