It is a back-to-work Sunday for most of the Cubs’ regulars who earned days off on Saturday.
Surely, this is a welcome sight for starter Kyle Hendricks who is in search of his 16th win as the Cubs look for a four-game split against the pesky Brewers.
Here is how the lineup behind him looks:
Chicago Cubs Lineup v. Milwaukee Brewers (Wily Peralta)
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, LF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Miguel Montero, C
- Javier Baez, 2B
- Kyle Hendricks, P
Kris Bryant sliding back to his regular position at third base is one of the many moves in Sunday’s Cubs lineup that represent a return to the norm. Unfortunately, Jorge Soler is sidelined for a second straight game. That puts Ben Zobrist in left field defensively, but in his familiar role as the cleanup hitter. Javier Baez remains in the lineup, but moves over to second base to accommodate the return of Addison Russell.
A resurgent Miguel Montero (.348/423/.739 over 26 plate appearances in his last eight games) takes the place of Willson Contreras behind the plate. Montero was behind the plate on Monday when Hendricks tossed eight innings of no-hit ball against the Cardinals.
