Well, that was intense.
Johnny Cueto and Jon Lester were as billed, with each working efficiently and impressively for eight innings. It felt like Cueto was getting a more courteous strike zone, but we’ll have to check that out in the morning. As it stood, he was holding the Cubs down as well as Lester was holding the Giants down.
Until the eighth inning, that is, when Javy Baez got into one, crushing it into the teeth of the wind, and putting it into the basket in left field. He also made a nice play at second base to end the game, after Aroldis Chapman had come in to finish things off.
