New Year’s Eve has arrived, and this was a particularly special year for the Chicago Cubs and the team’s fans. Natch.
To that end, the Cubs tweeted out a video of the best catches of the year, which is a fun way to catch up (nerd) on the season that saw the Cubs win it all:

I’d forgotten about the Dexter Fowler catch, but otherwise that’s the set I would have had … with two exceptions. The Jason Heyward diving, wall-crashing catch in San Francisco was – to me – one of the three best catches of the year (together with the Addison Russell running catch, and the Anthony Rizzo wall-walking catch). If I were forced to choose the best, I think I’d probably have to go with Russell’s catch (especially considering context) by a hair.
If we’re talking about the top catch, though, I don’t think there’s any other choice than when Rizzo gloved this ball:

Still. STILL, it produces chills. I love you all.
