The Cubs stick with a number of regulars for this one against the Angels, even after most started yesterday against the White Sox.
Here’s the Cubs’ lineup:
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Addison Russell, SS
- Miguel Montero, C
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Albert Almora, Jr., CF
- Matt Szczur, LF
- Taylor Davis, DH
Jason Heyward resumes his leadoff duties – it’s a Spring Training thing, designed to maximize his at bats – and we’ll get another chance to obsess about his swing.
Albert Almora gets a start in center field, while Matt Szczur is out there once again in left. Given his standing on the roster (in a bit of a battle), it’s unsurprising he’s seeing a lot of time already.
Meanwhile, your prospect in the starting lineup is Taylor Davis, 27, who took a step back offensively in 2016 after a bit of a breakout in 2017. He’s a catcher by trade, and is a guy that everyone who knows him seems to love. Whether he’ll ever have a future on the big league team, though, is still an open question.
Alec Mills makes his Spring Training debut with the Cubs in this one as the starter.
We’ll have your usual Pre-Gamin’ later today in advance of the game.
