The Chicago Cubs were being no-hit by the Cincinnati Reds today through seven innings (that doesn’t always go well for the Reds), and although the Cubs didn’t pull out a surprise comeback, they didn’t let their presumably-super-long Spring Training no-hit streak go by the wayside.
The first hit of the day, as a matter of fact, was a monster blast from top prospect Eloy Jimenez:
Jimenez, 20, figures to head to High-A Myrtle Beach when the spring is through, and he could be a candidate for a midseason promotion to AA if he keeps raking like he did last year. One of the top prospects in the game, Jimenez has a sky-high offensive ceiling.
