The Chicago Cubs have opened up their season, but they have yet to return home as reigning champions to raise the flags. That comes in just one week, as the Cubs will begin their first home stand of the year next Monday.
Work has been ongoing at a feverish pace around the ballpark all offseason, shortened though it may have been by the postseason run. We’ve all seen the pictures of the work going on in the grandstand and on the field. But is she gonna be ready?
Yes! It sure looks like it!

One of the last physical steps has been undertaken, as you can see, and the sod has been laid at Wrigley Field. Presumably, a week will be enough time for it to be safely set (although the Cubs had some rough outings following new sod after concerts, the turnaround time in those particular instances was pretty short, if I remember correctly).
Water it up, mow some beautiful patterns in it, and let’s play some ball!
