What a Night: Anthony Rizzo Raises the Banner, Carries the Trophy, Walks the Cubs Off (VIDEOS)

Chicago Cubs Highlights, Chicago Cubs News

Wow. As has so often become the case with these Chicago Cubs, the reality of how things play out is almost more perfect than what you would have put in a script.

Last night, after a two-hour rain delay – it was a very cold and wet one in the bleachers, my friends, but worth it – the Cubs walked out onto the field, heading toward the bleachers. They exited out back onto Sheffield so that they could, together with Ryne Sandberg, Fergie Jenkins, and Billy Williams, raise the 1907 and 1908 championship banners, the 2016 NL pennant banner, and the big daddy, the 2016 championship banner.

Then, the players came back onto the field with the World Series trophy being held aloft by Rizzo:

Then, of course, the Cubs played a tight, tense game against the Dodgers, and it was none other than Anthony Rizzo who did the walking off:

Does it get more perfect than that for the home opener after a long-awaited championship? It’s almost TOO perfect!
