Chicago Cubs Lineup: If It Ain’t Broke …

Cubs Lineups

If night games after an off-day are evil, then day games after late-night wins are all that is good in the world.

Here’s the Cubs lineup for this afternoon:

  1. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Addison Russell, SS
  5. Willson Contreras, C
  6. Jason Heyward, RF
  7. Javy Baez, 2B
  8. Jake Arrieta, P
  9. Albert Almora Jr., CF

That lineup should look pretty familiar, as it was the one on the field last night when the Cubs pulled off their third straight improbable comeback. The one notable difference – other than a new starting pitcher – is that Jason Heyward and Willson Contreras have flipped spots in the order.

The Reds starter, Cody Reed, is a lefty, and although he hardly has a Major League sample size from which to draw conclusions, righties have hit him far better than lefties for his career. So maybe that’s your answer.

As usual we’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
