That’s when Jason Heyward hit his third home run with the Chicago Cubs in his debut, 2016 season. At the time, he was hitting just .223/.318/.314, and we were all kinda sad. This year, he accomplished the same feat on April 24th – a full 43 days sooner. We are far less sad now.

After that homer in the top of the first inning, Heyward is now hitting .308/.357/.477. It also gave the Cubs a 4-0 lead. And I don’t want to get ahead of myself, but this has got to be exactly how he feels right now:
As for the homer itself – which was his 3rd homer in the past four games – the exit velocity and distance readings once again suggest that it was not a cheap one:

Another 105 MPH rocked off the bat helped take a ball with a relatively low launch angle up and over the wall in right-center field. Jason Heyward, stay hot, my friend. You are awesome, and we love it.
