Pre-Gamin’: Giants at Cubs (7:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Pre-Gamin'

Are the Cubs in the midst of a hot streak, having won four of five? Or are they mired in a continued slump, interrupted only by a single win against the Brewers and the mana from heaven that is the Reds’ pitching staff?

Tonight’s game against the Giants could go a long way to turning – or reinforcing – your narrative of choice.

Welcome back to Chicago, Giants. I remember the NLDS fondly. Let’s see more of that.

John Lackey takes the hill as one of the Cubs’ most consistent starters this year. He’s basically been the same guy he was last year with two big exceptions: more hits and more homers.

He’ll facing young lefty Ty Blach, who sports some of the most fascinating numbers you’ll see all year. He’s absolutely overwhelmed lefties (.143/.237/.206), but has struggled against righties (.265/.320/.453) – the sample is small, but that might be one of the biggest splits you’ll see.

Further, Blach has a really nice 6.9% BB rate, but he also has a wow-is-that-real 7.6% strikeout rate. Hit your way on, boys.
