The Cubs’ ULTIMATE REVENGE SERIES against the Padres continued tonight with another win. That’s three in a row for the Cubs, who are officially on a winning streak once again.
Anthony Rizzo led off the Cubs’ half of the first with a homer, because that’s what he does. That proved to be the only run the Cubs would need, even as they added three more.
That’s because Mike Montgomery was fantastic, working six scoreless, ruthlessly efficient innings – not normally his strong suit – getting strikeouts and groundballs aplenty. Even against a soft Padres lineup, it was a very impressive performance.
The bullpen took care of things from there, and it was a cool and comfortable win for the Cubs.
