Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Braves (6:35 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Goodbye, Designated Hitter. Hello, less-exciting National League where the Cubs will probably not score 27 runs over their next three games, despite equally rough pitching from Atlanta.

After yesterday’s game against the Orioles, the Cubs will only play four more games in AL parks this season (two against the White Sox next week and two more against the Rays in September), which means there’s not many more chances for a DH. That is unless, of course, they manage to sneak back into that funny little thing they call a World Series, but let’s not get (three months) ahead of ourselves.

Tonight, Jon Lester takes the mound against Julio Teheran, and, in many ways, they’re polar opposites of each other. Lester is a left-handed veteran who was having a nice season, but ran into some serious trouble just before the break. Teheran is a 26-year-old right-hander who was having a really terrible season, but has put together quality back-to-back starts. Hopefully, tonight, both go back to normal and the Cubs offense keeps on cranking.

The Cubs are undefeated in the second half, let’s see if Lester can keep it that way.
