Chicago Cubs Lineup: Victor Caratini Behind the Dish, Ian Happ Cleaning Up

Cubs Lineups

This morning (?), the Chicago Cubs can extend a season-high five-game winning streak to six for the first time this season.

Here’s the group that goes for the Cubs second-consecutive sweep:

  1. Jon Jay, RF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  4. Ian Happ, CF
  5. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  6. Javy Baez, 2B
  7. Addison Russell, SS
  8. Victor Caratini, C
  9. Mike Montgomery, P

With the day-night double-header worsened by the rain delay, there was absolutely no way Willson Contreras was catching this game (despite, what I can imagine, his protests to that), instead it’s the rookie Victor Caratini who gets just the fourth Major League start of his career. Good luck, champ.

Grandpa Ben Zobrist (can he be the Cubs new grandpa this year?) is also getting a breather, as Jon Jay, Ian Happ, and Kyle Schwarber take the outfield while Javy Baez and Addison Russell defend up the middle.

Let’s see if the Cubs can keep the good times rolling with one more win before heading back home to tackle the Cardinals.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (11:10 am).
