The Cardinals Were Propelled to Victory by The Rally Cat … and Then They Lost the Cat

MLB News and Rumors

As Michael discussed at Baseball is Fun, the Cardinals were last night the beneficiary of one those delightful, admittedly incredible baseball sideshow moments.

With the Cardinals trailing the Royals by a run in the sixth inning, with the bases loaded, two outs, and Yadier Molina at the plate, play was stopped because a kitten had run onto the field. Naturally, after the kitten was corralled, Molina hit a grand slam, and the Cardinals won the game.

Thus, The Rally Cat was born, and the story blew up around the baseball-related world. People immediately loved that cat.

And his dramatic legacy lasted … about 45 minutes:

You … lost the cat? If someone shoves a golden horseshoe up your butt, you don’t fart it out on the train and forget about it.

If this does not descend upon the Cardinals a one-hundred-year curse of the most wrathful vengeance, then truly, the Cardinals Voodoo Magic is alive and well, and completely invulnerable to cosmic intervention.

In all seriousness, I am an unabashed cat lover, so I hope somebody finds that cat and cares for it more dearly than the Cardinals and the random fan managed last night.
