Brett Anderson Signs with the Blue Jays

Chicago Cubs News, MLB News and Rumors

Brett Anderson missed most of last season after back surgery. Before that, he was equal parts an excellent pitcher, and an injured one.

The Cubs signed him to a low-risk one-year deal in January, after which Anderson pitched rather poorly, hurt his back, rehabbed for a couple months, and was let go. It didn’t work out, and these things sometimes don’t.

For Anderson, the road didn’t end with the Cubs, though, as he’s reportedly taking a minor league deal with the Blue Jays:

For Anderson, who is only 29, this is a chance to work his way back to the big leagues on a non-competitive team, and showcase in September that he can still pitch in the big leagues, with the hope of signing another prove-it deal in the offseason.

Best guess is that deal doesn’t come from the Cubs. Best of luck to Anderson going forward. Keep up the fire tweets.
