FOLKS: John Lackey Stole a Base! (And Then Got Picked Off on a Walk)

Chicago Cubs Highlights, Cubs Humor

For a few moments tonight, John Lackey forgot that he is a 38-year-old pitcher, and decided to have some fun.

After singling in the 4th inning, Lackey was getting an aggressive lead at first base, noticing that the Reds were paying him no mind. So Lackey just went for it:

Watch your back, Rickey Henderson!

Yes, that was Lackey’s first career stolen base, and it apparently made him feel a little frisky out there. Because when the next batter, Ben Zobrist, took a walk, Lackey strayed a bit too far from second base:

Whoops. Maybe being a plus-plus baserunner isn’t in his future after all.
