It’s funny to remember that Javy Baez did this kind of thing every day last year. Remember all the ridiculous plays? Remember how they then seemed to be absent in the first half of this season?
That’s not to say Baez was not effective on defense earlier this year – he was! – he just didn’t seem to be getting those same opportunities to make a crazy play that he got last year.
Well, lately, he’s been getting them again almost every day, and he keeps converting them in delightful ways. This catch definitely made last night’s ugliness a little more enjoyable:

I love the shrug after the catch, like “yeah, I don’t know, man, I just do this stuff.”
