Next Friday’s game against the Brewers on Friday, September 8, had been scheduled for the early afternoon, as is customary at Wrigley Field on Fridays.
But with the Cubs playing the night before in Pittsburgh, they were looking for an exception to be able to play an additional night game (something they’ve been sparring with the City about for a long time), and they got it – next Friday’s game was switched to a night game, starting at 7:05 pm CT.
That’ll be the first time the Cubs have ever hosted a regular season night game on a Friday. Have fun, be safe, etc.
Cubs President of Business Operations Crane Kenney released the following statement on the change to the Sun-Times:
“We thank Mayor Emanuel for his receptiveness to address this scheduling issue, which has posed a challenge for Cubs teams over the years when returning home from the road. We are glad to have been able to work together to address this issue and help our team and organization as we compete to play October baseball.”
Picture via the Cubs on Twitter – they said I could use it. Also: I took it with my own hands.
