That’s four in a row! And a new season-high 13 games over .500 for the Cubs, who have really started to take advantage of this soft stretch in the schedule.
Tonight’s was another all-around good win for the Cubs, who got a great start out of Kyle Hendricks (who’s been on fire since he came back from injury), and a solid shut-down performance from the bullpen.
Hey, don’t look now, but Justin Wilson is working on a scoreless streak, and struck out the side in the 9th in this one.
Offensively, Jon Jay paced the offense with four hits, Kris Bryant hit homer number 25, and saw at least one hit from every positional starter except Anthony Rizzo (who at least had an RBI groundout). About the only issue you’d point to is the number of runners the Cubs left out there on the bases. They still scored six runs.
Just a solid, comfortable win. That made my night solid and comfortable.
