The Cubs now have two chances to win this series against the Brewers.
Here’s their lineup for the first:
- Jon Jay, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Ian Happ, RF
- Kyle Hendricks, P
With a lefty on the mound for the Brewers this afternoon, the Cubs are loading up on righties. And that includes the returns of Addison Russell (who was just getting some rest yesterday) and Willson Contreras (also resting).
It also means, as usual, the reverse-split lefty Jon Jay plays left field and leads off, while the normal, but extreme-split Albert Almora jumps into the starting lineup and bats fifth.
Interestingly, Jason Heyward is sitting in this one. And while it makes plenty of sense given his splits (.292 wOBA v. LHP) and Brent Suters’ (.248 wOBA v. lefties), Joe Maddon has been reluctant to sit him against nearly anyone this season. Perhaps win-now mode is in full-effect.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (12:05 CT).
