YES, PLEASE! Cubs Will Reportedly Hold Playoff Watch Parties on the Plaza

Chicago Cubs News

I’ll admit that this wasn’t the first thing I thought of after the Cubs clinched their second consecutive NL Central title last night, but it was something about which I was hoping we’d hear more today.

And here it is:

Yep, according to Paul Sullivan, Crane Kenney, the Cubs President of Business Operations, has said that there WILL be watch parties at the Park at Wrigley (a.k.a. The Plaza) for the Cubs road playoff games. Woo!

If you recall, this was one of the items the Cubs pushed for back when they were negotiating the plaza rules with the City earlier this year. Apparently, the city/neighborhood has given in.

And because the Cubs can no longer catch the Washington Nationals in the standings, the first two games of the NLDS will be on the road, which also means we can get our first two Cubs playoff watch parties on Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th.

It’s not yet clear who will be allowed to visit the plaza (i.e. if you’ll need a ticket or something), but I’m sure we’ll get those details soon. For now, celebrate, because this is totally freakin’ awesome.
