Wake Up and Watch the Cubs Lock Down Game One Over the Nationals

Chicago Cubs Highlights

I can only imagine waking up a Nationals fan this morning. I’m thinking about just how good Stephen Strasburg looked. I’m thinking about the Anthony Rendon error that opened up the scoring for the Cubs. I’m thinking about how completely ineffectual the loaded lineup looked.

And I’m thinking about the weight of never having won a postseason series.

It’s nice not to have any kind of monkey like that on the Cubs’ back, eh?

It’s also nice to have a game one starter like Kyle Hendricks, who may not look a lot like Stephen Strasburg when he’s throwing the ball, but you’d never know from the way Nationals batters couldn’t square him up after the first inning:

Hendricks was truly fantastic last night against a legitimately loaded lineup. The frustration must be high.

Meanwhile, the Cubs got their first two runs thanks to Bryzzo, with a Kris Bryant single and hustle into second base (always hit the cutoff man!), and then an Anthony Rizzo ripped single:

And Wade Davis gets the final out with a pop up behind the plate:

Ah, Wade Davis. He is so cool out there, acting like he just closed out a Spring Training loss.

The Cubs Productions crew immediately put together a video for the Game One win, and you’re gonna want to watch it:
