Obsessive Ohtani Watch: He Met With the Padres Last Night, So All Meetings Are Done

Chicago Cubs Rumors, MLB News and Rumors

With three teams meeting with Shohei Ohtani on Monday, and then another three (including the Cubs) meeting with him on Tuesday, it was easy to speculate about the meeting of Ohtani saving the Padres for last, on a day with no other clubs.

After all, there are some past connections there:

Some of those relationships include Japanese star pitchers Hideo Nomo and Takashi Saito in the front office, and former Nippon-Ham Fighters trainer Seiichiro Nakagaki working as the Padres’ director of applied sports science.

So, yeah, Ohtani saving the final day of initial meetings all for the Padres would make some sense. And would make you nervous.

So, then, the next step could be some kind of additional cut down and hometown visits (so to speak (but seriously, it could be)). Or, for all we know – given how impressively secretive this process has been – he’s going to make a final decision soon. Like now. Or now. Or right now.
