The Next Reliever Off the Board: Jake McGee Returns to Colorado

MLB News and Rumors

The lefty we profiled this morning must have liked his time in Colorado, because he’s sticking.

We took a look at McGee earlier this morning and we were fans (especially with his potential outside of Coors), but it seems as though he’ll be returning to Colorado and on a pretty significant deal (in terms of length) at that.

But while that’s somewhat of a bummer, it could take the Rockies – who’ve already added Bryan Shaw for $27M over three years – out of the remaining relief market, and they were arguably the Cubs biggest competitors in this area. And the fact that they may be done without adding Wade Davis, Greg Holland, Addison Reed, or Brandon Kintzler leaves plenty of high-impact arms still available.
