After a single to left gave them a chance to tie this one up, with Chris Taylor on second base, the Dodgers elected not to test the arm of Kyle Schwarber. Wise.
But then on a fly ball to right field, the Dodgers didn’t have the same good sense not to challenge the OTHER great arm in the outfield, and Jason Heyward made them pay:

What a perfect throw by Heyward on a ball that actually should have been plenty deep enough to score the run. And then what a perfect setup and tag by Contreras, who let the ball come into him and got the tag on so quickly and closely that it actually bloodied him up a bit:

You’re in serious trouble now, Dodgers. Willy has a taste for blood.
That Cubs defense, eh? It just keeps showing off why it’s the best in baseball.
