This one will touch your heart.
Ryan Powell was an independent ball catcher for a handful of season between 2008 and 2012, and now he’s a scout for the Baltimore Orioles. When he learned that his mother, Wendy, had been diagnosed with brain cancer, he wanted to make her happy by playing some more baseball.
You can read his story here at Orioles.com, which ultimately culminated in him getting a chance to play in an Orioles intrasquad game yesterday, the final game of his career.
