Francisco Lindor has long been known for his superb defense up the middle. So, when he started tracking a pop-up down the left field line at full speed in Tampa Bay, we were all quite surprised at what happened next:
I think he really thought he had it at first, and then I think he was really ducking out of the way.
But when the ball got caught in the catwalk, there was no turning back. Fortunately, Lindor is smooth, and leans into his ridiculousness, pretends to take cover, takes a dive for the ball, hops up and runs back to shortstop like nothing happened at all.
Nicely done.
