Throughout history, we’ve born witness to several epic, individual match-ups in the fields of sports, politics, technology and intestinal fortitude that promise to live on forever in the stories of mankind. Tuesday night’s matchup between the Miami Marlins (Giancarlo Stanton) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (Clayton Kershaw) is not quite on that level – man, I really built this up too much, didn’t I? – but it’s still pretty darn cool.
The first match went to Kershaw:

If I were attending this game I would have yelled something along the lines of, “Dayuuuuuum,” because that Kershaw curve made Stanton looks downright silly.
But like every great matchup in history (oh! Rocky v. Apollo – there’s another one!) there was a rematch and this time, it went a little differently:

That time, Stanton got the best of Kershaw with a towering three run home run that he hit 109.5 MPH and 433 feet into right center field.
The best part is that is that Kershaw immediately knew it, as he sunk down to one knee and into the mound.
Although each athlete won one contest, we are the real winners here. And, hey, maybe they’ll make up one day and become best friends …
