A long while back, I wrote an article here on Baseball is Fun, entitled “Eephus Me Once, Shame on Me, But Eephus Me Twice …” which discussed the time Orlando Hernandez tried to sneak a second Eephus pitch past Alex Rodriguez.
Needless to say, it didn’t go too well:
El Duque once tried to sneak a second eephus pitch by @AROD. A-Rod said no: http://t.co/lWHWogkeW7 pic.twitter.com/C1NO1SzAkg

But apparently, Eephus pitches have a memory-based shelf-life, because Carlos Villanueva has fooled Jason Werth twice in his career, and he doesn’t look thrilled on either occasion.

The first pitch from Villanueva came back in August of 2013 and was clocked at a blistering 57 MPH. Now with San Diego, Villanueva did it again, this time throwing a 56 MPH Eephus that froze Werth in his tracks. His immediate realization and disappointment is just too obvious and funny.
I guess the saying’s wrong. You CAN Eephus me twice.
