I am duty-bound to inform you that, after this 7th inning catch by Yasiel Puig, Los Angeles Dodgers starter Rich Hill was pulled from the game, and the combined perfect game/no-hitter was lost.
But, still, I gotta say: this is one of the best catches at that stage of a perfect game I’ve ever seen.
Puig:
The angle, the distance, the dive, the body control, the moment. Simply incredible. This catch, alone, makes me sad that the Dodgers lost the perfect game, because otherwise, that might be an all-timer.
As it stands, we’ll just have to be satisfied to know it was an amazing catch.
Instead, the talk is going to be about the decision to pull Hill, who has had injury issues this year, after just 89 pitches.
