If “The Sandlot” isn’t one of your all-time favorite baseball movies, there might be something wrong with you.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s a masterpiece of modern cinema, rivaled only by the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick, Orson Wells, and … Michael Bay (I’m joking. They’ll know that I’m joking, right?).
Okay, maybe it’s not quite a “masterpiece of modern cinema,” either, but that little slice of 60s Americana really tugs at our collective nostalgia for baseball, childhood, and the good ole’ days.
Chicago Cubs second baseman Ben Zobrist seems to agree, which is why he threw it back on Saturday, riding his bike to Wrigley Field in full uniform including his, you guessed it, PF Flyers:
What can I say, he totally nailed it. All he needed to do was to run into some kids and drop some mad insults on their baseball skills and life choices (with some slightly sexist undertones). Hooray for the good ole’ days!
