I won’t do this moment justice by trying to describe the enormity, the shock, the emotion. All I can do is tell you and show you what happened.
In tonight’s Marlins-Mets game, the first after Jose Fernandez passed away, the Marlins are honoring his memory by wearing #16 jerseys. His number adorns the mound. His close friend Dee Gordon, who bats lefty, led off the game by taking a pitch while batting right-handed as a tribute to Fernandez.
And then this happened:

That was Gordon’s first homer of the year.
