Trea Turner May Be the Fastest Man in Baseball

Blink and you may miss Trea Turner.

The 2016 National League Rookie of the Year runner-up stole 33 bases and legged out eight triples in just 73 games last season, using his game-changing speed as a weapon against opposing defenses.

And what does he have in store for 2017?

Being faster, duh.

Check it out:

Whistle Sports tracked Turner’s offseason progress, which is impressive considering the difficulty behind tracking something that moves as quickly as Turner does. “No Days Off” might be a slick punch line or catch phrase for some, but for Turner it’s a way to improve on what is already world class speed.

Because if the average time for a right-handed hitter to get down the first-base line is 4.3 seconds and 4.0 is “flying,” what word can be used to quantify 3.4 seconds down to first?

Most .gifs last longer than the time it Turner takes to get to first.

Of course, that speed doesn’t solely exist to be burned on the bases. Just look what happens when he applies it on the defensive end:

An incredible quick-twitch on the first step and a max speed of 21 miles per hour that exceeds certain park district speed limits.

Turner might be the fastest player in baseball and there isn’t much you can do to stop him.

Good luck, opponents.
