Asdrubal Cabrera knows the meaning of futility. Or at least, that’s what his actions implied during yesterday’s 5-5 tie between the Mets and Tigers.
After reaching base on a ground ball single to center field, Cabrera was caught leaning a bit too far off first base. Anibal Sanchez, throwing for the Tigers, caught Cabrera in a run down … but it took just a bit too long for the Mets’ shortstop:

Although I’d expect some hardcore fans to be a little upset with giving up … run downs almost never work out in the favor of the runner AND it’s just Spring Training. I guess we can give him a pass.
