Just the other day, we learned that Manny Ramirez’s new contract with the Kochi Fighting Dogs (the Japanese independent league team with which he’s trying to come back) included some of the most hilarious and bold clauses in contract history:
- Ramirez will have use of a Mercedes and driver,
- Practices are optional (LOL), and
- He will receive unlimited sushi for the entire season.
To me, unlimited sushi and optional practices sounded like a sure-fire way to slow down a comeback. But, of course, I forgot that this is MANNY we’re talking about. So, naturally, I have some video of him cranking a deep double to center field to share with you.

Manny, now 44-years old, is probably just looking to play more than making a dedicated effort to return, but as far as I’m concerned he can stay out there for as long as he wants.
At a minimum, he always makes for an interesting story.
